What is KIT - Keep in Touch - and how can it help you?

KIT -- Keep in Touch -- is a counselling process and technique that helps people achieve lasting change and positive results. Developed by psychologist and counsellor Marion Aufseesser and based on more than 20 years of working with individuals and groups, KIT provides adults and adolescents with the skills and support they need to move forward and achieve their goals. KIT is essentially based on the cognitive and behavioural therapy approach.

How does KIT work ?

KIT provides both individual and group sessions. Which setting is preferable is based upon the needs of each client. In some cases group and individual sessions will be recommended.

Why does KIT produce lasting results?

KIT is successful because:
  • KIT takes its origins from the cognitive and behavioural approach and is grounded with more than 50 years knowledge and experience.
  • KIT works "inside out": clients are truly empowered. They are not taught to do something by rote which then obviously fails when the going gets tough (i.e. when it's real life and not role play).
What tools does KIT use?

First and foremost "tools" are chosen for their appropriateness to the client and his/her situation. KIT uses only validated tools either from the Cognitive and Behavioural Sciences or other validated tools such as the MBTI, 16PF, and FIRO.

KIT is a creative and flexible method. Therefore, the tools evolve and are also designed with and by the client on a step-by-step approach in accordance with the cognitive and behavioural method.

How long are the sessions?

KIT sessions vary in length and in frequency. The initial session will usually last for about one hour. More often than not the client will then meet with Marion for a number of sessions over a limited period of time. The length of the following sessions will usually be between 1 and 1.5 hours duration depending on the issue.

Minors will preferably be accompanied by their parents for this initial meeting.

Group workshops will be designed to meet the client's needs. Typically a workshop module for adolescents and young adults will run for 18 hours broken up into 3 hour sessions.

Group workshops will last from one to three days over a limited time period.

What is the purpose of the initial session?

The objective of the initial session is to define the scope of the work to be done.

Her career began in the medical field: Marion worked as a psychologist at the Geneva Hospital in the diabetes treatment and teaching unit. (Prof. Jean Philippe Assal)

Marion also lectures the Career Counselling and Lifestyle Graduate Course at Webster University (Geneva Campus). Marion runs her own counselling practice where she focuses on career development and management. She found it to be very effective with adolescents and young adults as well as with adults. Her activities have led her to become very interested in stress prevention and stress management. She joined Dr. Patrick Légeron and his team several years ago and is now opening their Swiss subsidiary. (www.stimulus-conseil.com)
